Gietl Park Redevelopment: Construction Progress and Exciting Next Steps As we continue to make strides in transforming Gietl Park, we’re excited to provide an update on the redevelopment, which was first announced last year. Thanks to a $600,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), the Springfield Park District is in the midst of transitioning the former Veterans’ Memorial Pool into a modern, ADA-accessible splash pad at 1900 Stanhope Road.
