THE GREAT LAWN KITE FESTIVAL TAKES FLIGHT AGAIN

[Springfield, IL] – In collaboration with the Springfield Park District, Capitol Media Group, Vision of Hope, Kuhn and Trello Consulting Engineers, LLC, and TROXELL, prepare to experience the thrill of soaring above the Great Lawn as the annual Kite Festival makes its return for another year of enjoyment and excitement. On June 22nd, families and kite enthusiasts of all ages are invited to join us at Southwind Park for a day filled with colorful kites, thrilling aerial displays, and plenty of activities for everyone.

Event Highlights:

  • Kite Flying Extravaganza: Watch as the sky above the Great Lawn transforms
    into a canvas of vibrant colors and shapes of all sizes. From classic diamond kites
    to elaborate themed designs to animals, there’s something for every kite
    enthusiast to enjoy.
  • Aerial Demonstrations: Marvel at the skills of professional kite flyers as
    they showcase their talents with impressive stunts to music against the backdrop
    of the sky.
  • Family FUN Zone: Keep the little ones entertained with water bounce houses and other exciting activities designed just for kids.
  • Hopeapalooza: Make sure to get there before 1:00 p.m. as Hopeapalooza will
    also be in Southwind Park. There will be sensory-friendly spaces, a petting zoo, bubbles, and a live DJ!
  • Food and Refreshments: Take a break from kite flying and enjoy a variety of delicious food options from local vendors. Whether you crave savory snacks or sweet treats, there’s something to satisfy every appetite.

  • Admission: Admission to the Great Lawn Kite Festival is FREE for all attendees. Kites will be available to purchase on-site.
