RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY TO SHOWCASE NEW LIGHTING AT THE THOMAS REES MEMORIAL CARILLON

The Springfield Park District and the Rees Carillon Society proudly invite the public to a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. The event will celebrate the unveiling of the newly installed lights, which will illuminate the iconic carillon and mark the beginning of the holiday season in Springfield.


The new lighting system will enhance the beauty of the carillon, creating a stunning display that can be enjoyed throughout the year, especially during evening performances. This significant enhancement, made possible by the generous support of the Rees Carillon Society, aims to highlight the structure’s architectural grandeur and deepen its role as a beloved community landmark.


In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests will be treated to a special preview of the new lights in action, followed by a holiday-themed carillon concert to officially ring in the season with a special holiday lighting surprise. Attendees can expect a delightful evening filled with holiday cheer and festive surprises.
