Beat the Winter Blues with the Springfield Park District

1/27/2025

Winter is here, and while the days might be shorter and the temperatures cooler, there's no reason to let the season get you down! The Springfield Park District has plenty of opportunities to keep your spirits high and your body active during the colder months. Here's how you can embrace the season and beat the winter blues:

Stay Active Indoors

Our facilities are perfect for keeping you moving during the winter. Whether you're ice skating at the Nelson Center, attending an aqua aerobic class, or lap swim at Eisenhower Aquatic Center. Staying active is a proven way to boost ones mood and energy levels.

Embrace Outdoor Adventures

Don't let the cold stop you in your tracks from enjoying the outdoors! Bundle up and explore the winter wonderland in any of the Springfield Park District's parks. Head over to Washington Park for a brisk walk or visit Southwind Park to admire the frosty landscapes.

Looking to have some fun in the snow? The Park District has the best sled hills around at Centennial Park and Pasfield Golf Course.

Try Something New

Winter is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. Check out the Springfield Park District's recreation programs, designed to engage your mind and spark creativity. Bring the whole family along to create lasting memories!

Connect with the Community

Feeling connected can make all the difference. Join of the Park District's community events, like themed skate nights at the Nelson Center. Check our the Park District event calendar to see what's happening this season!

Focus on Self-Care

Take a moment to relax and recharge. The Park District's parks are peaceful even in winter, offering the perfect setting for mindfulness and reflection. Sit by a frozen pond, listen to the quiet of nature, and let the crisp air refresh your mind.

Winter doesn't have to mean staying cooped up inside! With so many resources and activities, the Springfield Park District is here to keep you engaged, healthy, and happy all season long.
